United Way x Hampr x UMC: One Less Worry
When tragedy strikes, the ripple effects touch every corner of a victim's life. Following the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans, city officials identified an unexpected but pressing need: victims and their families receiving care at University Medical Center New Orleans were struggling to manage their laundry. In the wake of trauma, no one should have to worry about clean clothes.
That’s when United Way of Southeast Louisiana stepped in.
Thanks to our longstanding commitment to responding at the speed of need, we quickly partnered with Hampr, a local app-based laundry service, to provide laundry care for those affected. Through this partnership, families can focus on recovery and healing, knowing that this basic, essential need is being handled with care.
This partnership embodies what United Way does best – leveraging relationships and resources to meet people where they are. When people need help, we don’t wait. We find a way to deliver.
By working together with the team at Hampr, we’re addressing both immediate and logistical challenges for families navigating the aftermath of the attack. This partnership is one of many examples of how United Way mobilizes local businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to ensure victims and their loved ones have the resources they need to recover.
United Way’s United for New Orleans Relief Fund continues to support victims and those impacted with financial aid, mental health resources, and other critical services. Partnerships like this one with Hampr highlight the creative and compassionate ways we are addressing needs that may otherwise go unmet.
Together, we are building a community that stands united in the face of adversity.
