In the wake of the recent attacks, I thought you should know what United Way Worldwide (UWW) has been doing to help the people of Paris.
As French authorities, the Mairie of Paris (City Hall) and nonprofits address the immediate needs of the victims of the attacks, they are also concerned with the long-term prospects for social cohesion in France, particularly in underprivileged areas.
United Way France's work focused on education and opportunities for youth are even more important now than it was before.
Brian Gallagher, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide says, "our plan is to expand existing programs focusing on youth education and opportunities, reduce the school dropout rate and build the capacity of local nonprofits working to promote social cohesion and ensure today's young people remain active and engaged members of society."
