inaugural Lisa Arsenaux memorial award, LIVE UNITED Award winners
Workplaces recognized at United Way’s annual meeting
for contributing more than $3.7 million
NEW ORLEANS – United Way of Southeast Louisiana announced Wednesday Southeast Louisiana’s 2021 Most Generous Workplaces at its annual meeting of members.
The 2021 Top 10 Most Generous Workplaces include the following businesses from UWSELA's seven-parish service area:
1. Entergy Corporation
2. Shell
3. Valero Meraux Refinery
4. Pan-American Life Insurance Group
5. Freeport-McMoRan, Inc.
6. UPS
7. Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery
8. Chalmette Refining, LLC – PBF Energy
9. Hancock Whitney
10. International Paper
The annual ranking is determined by a workplace’s philanthropic contributions to and through UWSELA during the previous fiscal year.
Entergy held onto the top spot again this year thanks to the extraordinary efforts of its own Marcus Brown, UWSELA’s 2020-21 Campaign Cabinet Chair, and both Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery and Hancock Whitney joined the Top 10 as newcomers.
Collectively, the workplaces contributed $3.7 million through employee contributions and corporate gifts and fundraisers to UWSELA’s annual campaign, which exceeded its aggressive fundraising goal amid the global pandemic. In addition to meeting its campaign goal, UWSELA generated over $16 million in community impact last year, helping struggling households and small businesses recover.
The meeting’s most touching moment featured the presentation of the inaugural Lisa Arseneaux Employee Campaign Coordinator of the Year award to Canal Barge’s Sheila McGuire in recognition of her dedication to excellence in fundraising and engagement.
UWSELA staff created the award in memory of Arseneaux, who was tragically murdered in April 2021. She served as EY’s employee campaign coordinator for several years, leading model campaigns with high participation and engagement.
UWSELA also honored its 2021 LIVE UNITED Awards, recognizing individuals and partners who exemplify what it means to LIVE UNITED, working together to build a more equitable Southeast Louisiana with health, education and financial stability for all.
