Together, with 800 corporate partners, 3,400 volunteers, and more than 20,000 donors, United Way of Southeast Louisiana is fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. The Face of Change series highlights individuals within this mosaic of impact, their unique contributions to our community, and motivations for supporting United Way. This month, meet Chad Courrege, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at LCMC Health.
What is your role with United Way? What do you do in this role?
At LCMC Health, we believe in being good neighbors which is why our partnership with United Way is so important. Together with my team, I am happy to serve as the connector between United Way and our family of over 9,000 employees. We make giving fun through our annual campaign activities and community service volunteer events.
How long have you been involved with United Way?
Over the years, I’ve been active with United Way in many ways through prior employers. This is my second year working with United Way at LCMC Health.
What motivates you to give, advocate, and volunteer?
Giving back to the community we serve is the right thing to do. Last year was our first systemwide volunteer day, and it felt so good to help people in need with just a little time and elbow grease. I am proud to be a part of LCMC Health because we make a meaningful impact through giving back and serving others.
What’s your favorite karaoke song?
“Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. This song is a crowd-pleaser, everyone loves to sing along, which helps me sound so good, so good, so good.
What is one thing about United Way that you think people should know?
United Way impacts people in our community by providing funds to local organizations. They use the funds to carry out their missions and help people in many different ways. The money you give to United Way of Southeast Louisiana stays in our community and every $1 donated generates $4.37 in community impact.
What’s the #1 thing on your bucket list?
I love the outdoors and wildlife. My #1 bucket list item is to go whale watching and see a humpback whale breach the water.
