Join us for United Way of Southeast Louisiana's 17th Annual 'Got Gumbo' Cook-Off presented by The Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans.
We’ve invited the city’s most talented chefs and first-rate restaurants to put their dishes up against the competition in our annual parade of gumbo. Our Krewe de Gumbo panel of celebrity judges will present awards for Best Traditional Gumbo, Best Exotic Gumbo and Best Seafood Gumbo. We’re also giving ‘power to the people’—all ticketholders can vote for the People’s Choice awards of Best Gumbo, Best Dessert and Best “Float” Table Decorations. So, enjoy your heart’s content of the city’s best gumbos, the always entertaining Emcee Spud McConnell and a fun and fabulous raffle with great prizes to further benefit the programs of United Way!
Participating restaurants include: 1718 Catering at Hyatt Regency New Orleans, Roux Bistro at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, Charlie's Restaurant, 5 Fifty 5 New Orleans Marriott, Deanie's Seafood Restaurant, Corporation Bar & Grill, Steamboat Natchez, Tulane Sodexo, University of Louisiana Lafayette Sodexo, Oceana Grill, Desire Oyster Bar, Restaurant R'evolution, Royal Sonesta, English Turn Golf & Country Club and M Bistro at the Ritz-Carlton!
We thank our Krewe de Gumbo celebrity judges Judy Walker, Susan Ford, Lorin Gaudin, Alfred Richard, Morgan Ford and Bob Kimbro for giving of their time, taste buds and waistlines!
While the competition is all in good fun, the cause is serious. To put it simply, United Way supports programs in our seven-parish service area that empower people to help lift themselves out of poverty in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes.
